A PSI scan shows java 7.0.450.18 as insecure but the message "waiting for update to complete was there for a very long time so I went to the Java website - not an easy place to find the update but eventually I did: http://www.java.com/en/download/ie_manual.jsp?loca...

I installed the 7u51 file and it's there per Revo but another scan shows the same message as before.

Should I uninstall and try again or is there a problem with PSI?

PS I tried to post this in Programs but the page "isn't available".

Looks like you have two copies of JAVA installed.

Follow the path PSI gives you to the vulnerability & delete it manually.

EDIT:

You are correct about Programs - I reported this & many other faults with the web site months ago - as normal passed to the developers & nothing.

OMG - I was so focussed on this problem that I missed the bigger picture - I uninstalled Java about a year ago taking your advice at the time, Maurice. Goodness know what program wanted it - I've uninstalled it and will keep a close watch for programs wanting it in the future. Thanks Maurice
