Description

Some vulnerabilities and a security issue have been reported in D-Link DIR-300, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and cross-site request forgery attacks, or to bypass certain security restrictions.

1) Input passed to the "pingIP" parameter in tools_vct.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in an administrative user's browser session in context of the administration interface.

2) The device allows users to perform certain actions via HTTP request without performing validity checks to verify the requests. This can be exploited to e.g. change the administrator's password when a logged in administrator visits a malicious web site.

3) A security issue is caused due to an error within the session management, which can be exploited to gain access to the administrative interface with privileges of a logged in user when the attacker uses the same IP address as the logged in user.

4) The device does not properly restrict access to the password change functionality of the web interface, which can be exploited to change the administrator's password by sending specially crafted requests to the web interface.

5) The device does not properly restrict access to the bsc_wlan.php script, which can be exploited to e.g. change the WEP and WPA keys by sending specially crafted requests to the web interface.

Vulnerabilities #1, #2 and #3 are reported in firmware version 1.04-tomi-1.1.2. Vulnerability #4 is reported in firmware version 2.01B1, 1.04, and 1.05. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
A patch has been released for vulnerability #4 (contact the vendor for further information). Do not visit untrusted web sites when being logged in to the administration interface. Do not follow untrusted links. Restrict network access to the administration interface.
