Description: Javier Fernández-Sanguino Peña has discovered a vulnerability in Shorewall, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions on a vulnerable system with escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to the "shorewall" script creating temporary files insecurely, which can be exploited via symlink attacks to overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges of the user invoking the script (usually root).
Solution: The vulnerability has been fixed in versions 2.0.3a and 1.4.10f.
