Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in PuTTY, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the "ssh2_rdpkt()" function when processing of SSH2_MSG_DEBUG packets. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by sending a malicious packet containing a specially crafted value in the "stringlen" parameter.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code, but requires that a user is tricked into connecting to a malicious SSH2 server.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 0.55. Prior versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to version 0.56.
