Description: A vulnerability has been reported in UNARJ, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the handling of long filenames in archives. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by tricking a user into opening a malicious archive with a specially crafted path.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
Solution: The vendor reports that UNARJ is just a demonstration product and should not be used on production systems.
The vendor recommends users to use ARJ instead.
Provided and/or discovered by: First reported in a Fedora advisory.
