CVE-2004-2302
CVE-2005-0977

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in the Linux Kernel, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or gain escalated privileges.

1) The SACF (Set Address Space Control Fast) control instruction is handled insecurely on the S/390 platform allowing execution of arbitrary code with root privileges.

2) An input validation error in the "shmem_nopage()" function in the tmpfs file system can be exploited to crash the system.

3) A race condition in "sysfs_read_file()" and "sysfs_write_file()" functions in "/fs/sysfs/file.c" may be exploited to read kernel memory and cause a crash via large offsets in sysfs files.

4) A memory leak error in the handling of files that were opened with the O_DIRECT flag can potentially be exploited to exhaust all available kernel memory by repeatedly opening files in a certain way.

Solution:
Update to version 2.6.10.
