Description:
Steve Kemp has reported a vulnerability in imapproxy, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error in "ParseBannerAndCapability()" function when processing the banner or capability line received from the IMAP server. This may be exploited to execute arbitrary code via a specially crafted reply.

Successful exploitation requires that imapproxy is configured to connect to a malicious IMAP server.
