Description: Steve Kemp has reported a vulnerability in imapproxy, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error in "ParseBannerAndCapability()" function when processing the banner or capability line received from the IMAP server. This may be exploited to execute arbitrary code via a specially crafted reply.
Successful exploitation requires that imapproxy is configured to connect to a malicious IMAP server.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 1.2.3. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Restrict use to only trusted IMAP servers.
