CVE-2006-0240
CVE-2006-4300

Description:
Zinho has discovered two vulnerabilities in SimpleBlog, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion and SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "month" parameter and to the "id" parameter in comments.asp isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Example:
http://[victim]/?view=archives&month=[code]&year=2006

2) Input passed to various fields when posting a comment isn't properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to inject arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious comment is viewed.

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 2.1. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.

Provided and/or discovered by:
1) Zinho and Chironex Fleckeri.
2) Zinho, Hackers Center Security Group.

Changelog:
2006-01-25: Added CVE references.
2006-08-19: Added additional information about the "id" vulnerability.
2006-08-25: Added CVE reference.
