Description: Bas Wijnen has discovered a vulnerability in Pioneers, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is cause due to a boundary error in the game server in the handling of an overly long chat message sent by a client. This can be exploited to cause the server to terminate with an assertion failure.
The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 0.9.40. Prior versions may also be affected.
Note: The clients reportedly may also crash when receiving the overly long message.
Solution: Update to version 0.9.49.
