Description: A weakness has been reported in M4 Project enigma-suite, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to bypass certain security restrictions.
The weakness is caused due to the enigma-suite installation script adding a new user to the Windows XP system using a fixed username and password ("enigma-client" / "nominal"). This can be exploited to gain access to the system.
The weakness has been reported in versions prior to 0.73.3 and affects only the Windows version.
Solution: Existing users should follow the vendor's instructions to change the password.
http://www.bytereef.org/howto/m4-project/changepasswd-bgtask.html
New users should edit the "eclient-XP-Pro-install.bat" file to change the default password before installation.
Provided and/or discovered by: Reported by vendor.
Changelog: 2006-03-08: Added CVE reference.
