|
Description: Pratiksha Doshi has discovered some vulnerabilities and a weakness in Interact, which can be exploited by malicious people to gain knowledge of certain information, and conduct cross-site scripting and SQL injection attacks.
1) The "login.php" script returns different error responses depending on whether or not a valid username is supplied. This can can be exploited to enumerate valid usernames.
2) Input passed to the "search_terms" parameter in search.php and various fields when creating an account isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
3) Input passed to the "user_name" parameter in login.php isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
The vulnerabilities and the weakness have been confirmed in version 2.1.1 and have also been reported in version 2.1. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and that only general error messages are returned to users.

Changelog: 2006-04-10: Added CVE references.
