Description: Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in warforge.NEWS, which can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion attacks, and by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks and SQL injection attacks.
1) Input passed to the "title" and "newspost" parameters in newsadd.php, and to the "name", "title", and "comment" parameters in news.php is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when malicious data is viewed.
2) Input passed to the "usern" and "pass" parameters via the "authusername" and "authpassword" cookie parameters in authcheck.php is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
3) Input passed to the "first_name" and "last_name" parameters in myaccount.php is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.
Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.
The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 1.0. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
Provided and/or discovered by: 2) Aliaksandr Hartsuyeu
