CVE-2006-3106

Description:
darkgod has discovered two vulnerabilities in phpMyDesktop|arcade, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks, disclose sensitive information, and compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Input passed to the "subsite" parameter in index.php isn't properly verified, before it is used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary files from local resources.

Example:
http://[host]/index.php?todo=showsubsite&subsite=[file]%00

This can further be exploited to include arbitrary PHP code injected into uploaded images.

Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

2) The problem is that it is possible to upload images with arbitrary content to a location inside the web root when posting. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

Successful exploitation requires the malicious image is viewed directly with the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 1.0. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly verified.
