CVE-2006-2927

Description:
Some vulnerabilities have been discovered in CodeAvalanche FreeForum, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct script insertion attacks and SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "password" parameter in admin/default.asp is not properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Note: Successful exploitation can give access to the administration section.

2) Input passed to the "msg_subject" and "msg_body" form field parameters in post.asp is not properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected site when malicious data is viewed.

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in the latest available version (2006-06-02). Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
