Description:
DarkFig has discovered some vulnerabilities in VUBB, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting and SQL injection attacks.

1) Input passed to the "user" and "email" parameters when registering for an account isn't properly sanitised before being used in a SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.

Successful exploitation requires that "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

2) Input passed to the "user" parameter when registering for an account isn't properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site.

It is also possible to disclose the full path to certain scripts by accessing them directly.

The vulnerabilities have been confirmed in version 0.2.1. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
