Description:
Tan Chew Keong has reported a vulnerability in Cool Messenger Server and Cool Manager, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct SQL injection attacks.
Input passed to the "username" parameter when Cool_CoolID.exe is handling a user authentication request is not properly sanitised before being used in an SQL query. This can be exploited to manipulate SQL queries by injecting arbitrary SQL code.
NOTE: This can be exploited to login as any user without providing valid credentials.
The vulnerability has been reported in Cool Manager 5.0 (5,60,90,27) with Cool_CoolD 5,60,90,7 and Cool Messenger Server 5.5 (5,65,12,12) with Cool_CoolD 5,65,12,11. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution:
Update to a fixed version.
Cool Messenger Server:
Update to version 5.5 (5,65,12,13).
Cool Manager:
Update to version 5.0 (5,60,90,28).
