Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in IBM AIX, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions with escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to an unspecified error in invscoutClient_VPD_Survey when performing a survey of the Vital Product Database. This can be exploited to overwrite the contents of arbitrary files, and can further be exploited e.g. to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

The vulnerability has been reported in Inventory Scout for AIX 2.2.0.0 through 2.2.0.9.

Solution:
Apply Interim fix until APARs are available.
