|
|
Description: Greg Linares has discovered a security issue in Easy Chat Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to gain knowledge of sensitive information.
The problem is that the proper permissions are not properly set on the web root of Easy Chat Server. This can be exploited to reveal sensitive information by directly accessing the files stored in the web root via a web browser.
Example:
http://[host]/ServerKey.pem
http://[host]/AcceptIP.txt
Successful exploitation requires that the attacker has knowledge of the file names located in the web root.
The security issue is confirmed in version 2.1. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Grant access to trusted users only.
Provided and/or discovered by: Greg Linares
Changelog: 2007-01-17: Added CVE reference.
