|
|
Description: Greg Linares has discovered two vulnerabilities in Conti FTPServer, which can be exploited by malicious users to enumerate files on an affected system and disclose potentially sensitive information.
1) An input validation error when processing arguments passed to various commands can be exploited to list and download files from arbitrary locations outside of the FTP root via directory traversal attacks.
2) User passwords are stored insecurely in plain text in the "MyServerSettings.ini" file.
The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 1.0 (Build 2.8). Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Grant access to trusted users only.
Provided and/or discovered by: Greg Linares
Changelog: 2007-01-24: Added CVE reference.
