Description:
Laurent Butti has reported a vulnerability in NetGear MA521 Wireless driver, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the MA521nd5.SYS device driver when handling beacon or probe response frames containing an invalid supported rates information element. This can be exploited to cause a memory corruption via a specially crafted packet when the driver is running in active scanning mode.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is reported in version 5.148.724.2003. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Turn off the wireless card when not in use.
