Description:
LMH has reported a vulnerability in Mac OS X, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or potentially to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to an error when invoking "ioctl()" on an AppleTalk socket with an "AIOCREGLOCALZN" request and can be exploited to cause a system panic or to execute arbitrary code with escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is reported on a fully patched Mac OS X (27-11-2006) running on an Intel processor. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution:
Update to Mac OS X 10.4.9 or install Security Update 2007-003.
