Description: Tavis Ormandy has discovered a vulnerability in Fail2ban, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the parsing of log files before adding an IP to the block list. This can be exploited to add arbitrary IP addresses to the block list resulting in a DoS for that IP.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 0.6.1 and 0.8.0 using "hosts.deny". Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Update to version 0.8.1.
