Description: Some vulnerabilities have been reported in the Linux Kernel, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or potentially gain escalated privileges.
1) A vulnerability is caused due to an error within the "listxattr" system call when interpreting "bad_inode_ops" return values, which can be exploited to cause a memory corruption.
Successful exploitation requires a bad inode.
2) A vulnerability is caused due to the "acct_stack_growth()" function in mm/mmap.c not correctly separating the stack space from hugetbl pages, which can be exploited to cause a kernel oops.
Successful exploitation may requires a PowerPC system.
Solution: Update to version 2.6.20 or later.
Provided and/or discovered by: Reported by the vendor.
Changelog: 2007-02-05: Updated "Solution" section.
2007-09-13: Added vulnerability #2 and a CVE reference.
