Description: mu-b has discovered a vulnerability in MailEnable, which can be exploited by malicious users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the IMAP service when processing arguments passed to the "APPEND" command. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via an overly long (greater than 128 bytes), specially crafted string as argument to the affected command.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in MailEnable Professional version 2.37. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Apply hotfix:
