Description: Jonathan So has discovered a vulnerability in Corel WordPerfect Office X3, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the processing of WordPerfect documents. This can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted document with an overly long (greater than 256 WCHAR bytes) printer selection file name.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code but requires that the user is tricked into e.g. opening a malicious document.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 13.0.0.565. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Do not open untrusted documents.
Provided and/or discovered by: Jonathan So
Changelog: 2007-04-02: Added CVE reference.
