Description: Hamid Ebadi has reported a vulnerability in CompreXX, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error when extracting various archives (e.g. RAR, JAR, and ZIP files). This can be exploited extract files to arbitrary locations outside the specified directory via directory traversal sequences.
The vulnerability is reported in version 4.1. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Do not extract untrusted archives.
To reduce the risk, never extract files as an administrative user.
