Description:
A security issue has been reported in Dovecot, which can be exploited by malicious users to bypass certain security restrictions.
The security issue is caused due to an error within the LDAP authentication functionality when auth cache is enabled. This can be exploited by a malicious user to log in with the same cached "pass_attrs" of another user (e.g. gain access to the other user's mailbox), which is logged in "auth_cache_ttl" seconds before the malicious user.
Successful exploitation requires non-default configuration settings and that the two users share the same "password" and "pass_filter" variables. Please see the vendor advisory for further details.
The security issue is reported in versions 1.0.rc11 through 1.0.9.
