Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in Yahoo! Messenger, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) on another user's client.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error in the file transfer functionality ("ft.dll"). This can be exploited by sending a specially crafted file transfer request to a victim, which causes a buffer overflow and may crash the client.

Successful exploitation requires that the victim accepts to initiate the file transfer.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 5.6. Other versions may also be affected.
