Description:
A vulnerability has been identified in KPopup allowing malicious, local users to escalate their privileges.

The problem is that KPopup uses system commands insecurely in system() calls. This can be exploited by creating fake executables and change the PATH environment.

Different format string vulnerabilities have also been reported. These can potentially be exploited to execute arbitrary code.

KPopup is installed setuid root by default.

Versions 0.9.1 to 0.9.5pre2 are affected.
