Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in Effect Office, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) and potentially compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error when handling data sent to the service listening on port 56004/tcp by default. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by sending an overly long, specially crafted string.

Successful exploitation may crash the service or allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 2.9. Other versions may also be affected.
