Description

Two vulnerabilities have been reported in Surfboard httpd, which can be exploited by malicious people to gain knowledge of sensitive information and cause a DoS (Denial of Service).

An input validation error makes it possible to conduct a classic directory traversal attack using the "../" character sequence. The problem is that this character sequence is only checked if the URL contains a "?" character.

Example:
http://[victim]/../../etc/passwd

Browser input is reportedly read while running in a loop until a second line-feed is encountered. This can be exploited to make the process enter an infinite loop by connecting to the service and then closing it again without sending any data.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.1.8 and prior.

Solution
Update to version 1.1.9.
