Description:
A security issue has been identified in CVS, which can be exploited by malicious users to gain escalated privileges.

A user, who has gained write permissions for the "CVSROOT/passwd" file, can execute arbitrary code with "root" privileges on a system with CVS pserver access enabled.

Solution:
Update to version 1.11.11 (stable) or 1.12.5 (feature).
