Description: Richard Maudsley has reported a vulnerability in FirstClass Client allowing malicious users to construct filenames, which can bypass certain restrictions.
Filenames on a FirstClass system can contain characters, which are invalid on the Windows platform (and other operating systems). These characters are stripped from the filename after the extension has been verified against the rule set.
This can be exploited to bypass administrative restrictions and potentially allow automatic execution of ".exe" files.
The vulnerability has been reported in version 7.1 on the Windows platform.
