A vulnerability has been reported in WS_FTP Pro, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial-of-Service) on the application and potentially compromise a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the client when processing ASCII mode directory data. This can be exploited via a malicious FTP server to cause a buffer overflow by returning an overly long (260 bytes or more) filename or directory name when a directory listing is requested.

Successful exploitation crashes WS_FTP Pro but may potentially allow a malicious FTP server to execute arbitrary code on a user's system.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 8.0.2 and in version 7.6.2.0 and prior. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
The vulnerability has been fixed in version 9.0 Pro.
