Description

Sanjay Shah has discovered two vulnerabilities in Tarantella Enterprise, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The vulnerabilities are caused due to insufficient validation of user input passed to query parameters for the "ttaarchives.cgi" and "ttacab.cgi" CGI utilities. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML or script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site by tricking the user into visiting a malicious website or follow a specially crafted link.

Successful exploitation may result in exposure of various information (e.g. cookie-based authentication information) associated with the site running Tarantella Enterprise or inclusion of malicious content, which the user thinks is part of the real website.

The vulnerabilities affect the following versions:
* Tarantella Enterprise 3, version 3.40 on all operating systems.
* Tarantella Enterprise 3, version 3.3x on all operating systems.
* Tarantella Enterprise 3, version 3.2x on all operating systems.

Solution
Replace the installed "ttaarchives.cgi" and "ttacab.cgi" CGI utilities with updated scripts available from the software updates pages of the Tarantella Support site.
