Description:
Dennis Rand has reported a vulnerability in HAHTsite Scenario Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the handling of projects when starting them. This can be exploited to cause a buffer overflow by sending a specially crafted HTTP request, which specifies an overly long project name.

Example:
http://[victim]/[cgi-alias]/hsrun.exe/[ServerGroupName]/[ServerGroupName]/[VeryLongProjectName].htx;start=[PageName]

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code on a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 5.1 patches 1 through 6.
