Description:
tsifra has discovered a vulnerability in XChat, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable system.

The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the Socks-5 proxy code.

Successful exploitation requires that "socks5 traversal" is enabled (disabled by default) and a malicious proxy server is used.
