Description: Janek Vind has reported some vulnerabilities in PostNuke, allowing malicious people to conduct cross-site scripting attacks.
Input passed to certain parameters in various scripts/modules isn't properly verified before it is returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML or script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site by tricking the user into visiting a malicious website or follow a specially crafted link.
Examples:
modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=ratedownload&ttitle=x&lid=>[malicious_code]
modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=search&query=>[malicious_code]
modules.php?op=modload&name=Web_Links&file=index&req=search&query=>[malicious_code]
javascript/openwindow.php?hlpfile=x<html><body>[malicious_code]
If error messages hasn't been turned off in PHP, multiple scripts will return error messages when accessed directly. This can be exploited to reveal the installation path.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 0.726.
