Description:
A vulnerability has been reported in various browsers, which can be exploited by malicious people to create or truncate files on a user's system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an input validation error within the telnet URI Handler. The problem is that "-" characters aren't filtered at the beginning of a hostname, which makes it possible to pass options to the telnet utility.

The vulnerability has been reported in the following versions:
* Opera Browser 7.23
* KDE Konqueror included in KDE 3.2.2 and prior
* Mozilla Firefox 0.8
* Safari 1.2.1 (v125.1)
* Internet Explorer for Mac 5.2

Solution:
Opera Software has fixed in the vulnerability in version 7.50.

The vulnerability has been fixed in Mozilla Firefox on all platforms except MAC OS X. Update to the latest version.
