Description: Jaguar has reported some vulnerabilities in libpcd, which potentially can be exploited by malicious people to execute arbitrary code on a user's system.
The vulnerabilities are caused due to three boundary errors within the "pcd_open()" function during creation of certain error messages when attempting to decode a PhotoCD image. These can be exploited to cause buffer overflows if an overly long, specially crafted filename is supplied.
Successful exploitation requires that a user is tricked into opening a specially crafted PhotoCD image with a malicious filename.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in xpcd 2.08 and libpcd 1.0.1. Other versions may also be affected.
