Description: infamous41md has reported a vulnerability in the Broadcom 5820 Cryptonet driver included with Red Hat Linux. This can potentially be exploited by malicious, local users to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or gain escalated privileges.
The vulnerability is caused due to an integer overflow within the "ubsec_ioctl()" function when setting up an encryption key. The problem is that an amount of memory is allocated based on a user controlled value, which may result in a large amount of data being copied into an insufficiently sized buffer.
The affected driver is included in Red Hat Linux 8, but may also be present in other versions.
