Description

SuSE has discovered a vulnerability in the Linux kernel, which can be exploited by malicious users to bypass certain security restrictions.

The vulnerability is caused due to a missing check in the "fchown()" function, allowing unauthorised manipulation of files' group ID.

Successful exploitation in the 2.4 branch requires that the file system is shared via NFS.
