Description: B-r00t has reported a vulnerability in Mac OS X, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.
The problem is that "Internet Connect.app" creates the file "/tmp/ppp.log" in an insecure manner, which can be exploited via symlink attacks to create or overwrite arbitrary files with escalated privileges.
The vulnerability has been reported in Mac OS X 10.2.8, Mac OS X 10.3.4, and Mac OS X 10.3.5.
Solution: The vulnerability has been fixed in Security Update 2004-09-07.
