Description:
Paul Starzetz has reported a vulnerability in the Linux kernel, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to disclose sensitive information in kernel memory.

The vulnerability is caused due to race conditions and conversion errors when handling 64-bit file offset pointers.

Successful exploitation may disclose large portions of kernel memory.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 2.4.26 and prior and in version 2.6.7 and prior.
