CVE reference:CVE-2003-0931
CVE-2004-0163
CVE-2004-0593

Description:
Martin O'Neal of Corsaire has reported three vulnerabilities in Sygate Secure Enterprise (SSE), which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service) or bypass certain security restrictions.

1) When SSE communicates with valid Sygate Security Agents (SSA), the communication is done via HTTP and is not protected against replay attacks in any way. This can be exploited to exhaust available system resources by capturing a valid request and then replay it numerous times.

2) Sygate Enforcer sends discovery datagrams (UDP) to the local subnet broadcast address every second. It is possible to cause the host service (port 39999/UDP) to stop responding by capturing one of these datagrams, manipulate it, and replay it to the Sygate Enforcer.

This vulnerability reportedly affects version 4.0 and prior.

3) Sygate Enforcer does not correctly filter broadcast traffic sent prior to authentication, allowing malicious people to bypass the authentication.

This vulnerability reportedly affects versions prior to 3.5MR1.

Solution:
1) The vulnerability has reportedly been fixed in version 3.5MR3.
2+3) Update to a Sygate Enforcer version later than 4.0.

Provided and/or discovered by:
Martin O'Neal, Corsaire.
