Description:
iDEFENSE has discovered a vulnerability in Sun Solaris, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The vulnerability is caused due to a format string error within the CDE Mailer (dtmail).

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code with mail group privileges enabling users to read, modify, and delete other users' mails on the system.

The vulnerability has been reported in CDE 1.4 and 1.5 for Solaris 8 and 9.
