Secunia Advisory SA12418Xedus Web Server Multiple Vulnerabilities
Description
James Bercegay has reported some vulnerabilities in Xedus Web Server, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct DoS (Denial of Service) and cross-site scripting attacks, and access sensitive information. 1) An error in the connection handling can be exploited to block legitimate access to the web server by establishing multiple connections. This prevents further connections from being established. 2) User input passed to various scripts aren't sanitised sufficiently before being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML or script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site by tricking the user into visiting a malicious website or follow a specially crafted link. Example: http://[host]:4274/test.x?username=[code] http://[host]:4274/TestServer.x?username=[code] http://[host]:4274/testgetrequest.x?param=[code] 3) An input validation error makes it possible to access arbitrary files outside the web root via directory traversal attacks. Example: http://[host]:4274/../[existing_file] The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.0.
