Description: Michal Zalewski has reported a vulnerability in the netkit-telnet package for Debian Linux, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service).
The vulnerability is caused due to an error within the processing of AYT ("Are You There") commands and may cause an invalid pointer to be freed.
Successful exploitation crashes the service. It may potentially also be possible to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the telnetd process, though this has not been proved.
