Description: Karol Wiesek has reported a vulnerability in Samba, which can be exploited by malicious users to access arbitrary files and directories.
The vulnerability is caused due to input validation errors in "unix_convert()" and "check_name()" when converting DOS path names to path names in the internal filesystem. This can be exploited to list, access, or write to files and directories outside the share's root.
NOTE: Samba file shares with "wide links = no" are not vulnerable (non-default setting).
The vulnerability has been reported in versions 2.2.x through 2.2.11, and 3.0.x through 3.0.2a.
