Description

Andrey Bayora has reported a vulnerability in cPanel, which makes it easier for malicious people to brute force webmail account passwords.

The vulnerability is caused due to passwords for webmail accounts being truncated to eight characters. This makes it possible to access a webmail account, where a password longer than eight characters has been configured, with an eight character long password matching the first eight characters of the account's password.

The vulnerability has been reported in version 9.4.1-STABLE 65. Other versions may also be affected.

Solution
Update to fixed cPanel 9.9.8 builds.
